Tolerance
Tolerance!
I have a travel hangover from the previous day! I haven't slept much. Yet I got up to get ready for the rituals and a long, arduous journey to Allahabad for Triveni Sangamam.
After much struggle, I wore a 9-yard Saree (which measured maybe 8 yards).
The driver chose to show us the countryside of UP!! Annoyed by the body roll in the back seats of the Toyota Etios, I frowned and asked him why that route; he said that because it is an auspicious Shravan month, thousands of pilgrims walk from Allahabad to Varanasi by road, and the highway was closed on one side of the National highway!!! How interesting to see the trust and faith in such rituals! The delayed route and bumpy rural roads were no longer a concern!
After theertha snana Sangalpam, we proceeded to Triveni snanam.
Mind-blowing experience.
Three boats are anchored in the middle of the river Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati Triveni Sangamam point; other pilgrims' boats surround this fleet of three. At the center of the three boats is a 4/4 square wooden plank literally balancing on the ropes tied to these three stationary boats. One by one, we are asked to get onto the wooden platform, which goes inside due to our body weight. We hold our breath!!! The boat instructs us to do so many dips. The chillness in the stomach is more than the chillness of water. The ordeal finally got over!!! More than devotion !!!! Fear of life. A sigh of relief.
I returned to Varanasi safe and sound and relieved from the travel and the adventure of bathing in the Sangam.
As we all sat in our room, it was a fine feeling to see the mouse running around !! Welcoming us may be !!
The first day was a shock; today, it is tolerance!!
More tomorrow.
Cheers,
Jayy
